Baxter at the Olympics

Baxter has been following Dave around at the Olympics in Beijing. Dave is not his real name. His name is Toby' and Angus' Father. Toby and Angus' father is working at the Swimming venue and bringing you those wonderful underwater shots. It is a good thing Toby and Angus' father does not have to swim with the Swimmers or he would be awfully wet. Baxter has not gone for a swim either but is enjoying the trip to and from the venue as well as going to many interesting places. Here Baxter is sitting outside the WaterCube wondering when he will get some sleep.

Dear Baxter. are you having fun baxter you better not be wet . Whats your favourite food in China Baxter

Baxter said...

Theodor thanks for your question! I only got a little wet on the first day and that was from the rain. Tony and Angus's dad won't let me swim in the pool because I don't have my bathers. My favourite food is Kung Pau Chicken. It's really spicy. Bear's really like spicy food.

Hello Baxter how long and high is the Great Wall of China? Was it funat the Water Cube? When are you coming back to class 1B? It looks cool when you're in the cannon with that girl taking pictures. Who's you're favourite swimmer or sport player?

Baxter said...

Hi Guy. The weather is a little cool today. Normally its really hot because its summer here. I thought the Great Wall was awesome. You should ask your teacher to suggest some books about it. When I come back I will give you a quiz about some things about China. For example when was the Great Wall built, why was it built, and can you walk on it? Maybe Ms B can help you. Say hello to Berwyn from me! I miss you guys.

Dear Baxter I miss you. I hope you are having a good time. We liked the photos and letters that you showed us.

Baxter said...

Hi Dominic. You will have to ask Ms B to help with the answer to how long and high the Great Wall is - I am going to quiz you when I get home. The water cube is a lot of fun. Did you know it changes colour at night? And has words on it. I will be back in class soon - next week! I really like Michael Phelps the swimmer, but my favourite was the man from Tunisia - Oussama Mellouli the swimmer that won the 1500m race. Boy he did a great job. I will post some photos later. Can you find some information on Tunesia?

Dear Baxter, I miss you so much. I hope you have fun. I like the cannon picture and the Cube. What food do you eat? Is it rice or chicken or broccoli?

Baxter said...

Hi Cooper. I miss you too. They eat a lot of different foods over here, but a lot of chicken, rice, noodles, dumplings, beef and bok choy. Have you tried bok choy? Its a green vegetable.

Samantha,

Thanks for checking out my blog. It is really fun to do. It is a bit hot in China. It was muggy last week too but this week I have seen a lot of blue skies.

I was saved from falling in the pool a couple of days ago. I do not want to jam up the filters.

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Baxter said...

Isaac,

I can't wait to read the story. Thanks for checking out my travels on the blog.

Baxter said...

Cameron,

Wow...I miss Berwyn also. I have not tried any of the prawn chips. I did eat with some chop sticks but it is really hard to eat rice that is not sticky.

Baxter said...

Guy,

Sorry I was slow to respond to your mom. A bear has got to get some sleep. Also...I did not have to go to work this morning so I was not near a computer. I have now responded to your mum.

Thanks for telling your mum about my site.

Baxter said...

Comeni,

Anytime mate. Thanks for thinking I am the best bear. I wish I could get there sooner too but the flights are booked.

I have not gotten in much trouble. Today when I went to pick up my suit there were lots of people wanting to take pictures of me and such. That is the most trouble I have gotten in.

I know that I cannot run out on the diving boards....I cannot swim underwater like all those ladies and more so I behave like a bear should.

Baxter said...

Kiran,

Thanks for missing me. I am sleeping in the room at the Media village. I put some pictures up today and hopefully you can see them now. It is way high up but it is not scary.

Baxter said...

Theodor,

Thanks for writing again. Since I am trying to meet lots of new friends I am rooting for all the countries. It is really fun to see other people win that have never won before.

Did you see the guy from Tunisia? Did you see the lady from the US of A Dara Torres that has been to FIVE Olympics as a Swimmer? These people are cool too even though they are not from Oz.

Baxter said...

Charlie

Things are fine. Thanks for asking. I am glad you are good. I miss you guys a lot in Ms. B's class. I miss the whole school.

I am having a great time. I have seen lots of interesting things. It is really hot here. It is about 35 degrees. How cold is it there in Oz?

Talk with you later.

Baxter said...

Domenic,

David works for the Host Broadcaster. The Host Broadcaster is responsible for doing the coverage from all the venues for all events. This coverage goes out to the whole world. It goes to Channel 7 in Oz, or SVT in Sweden or NBC in the US or CBC in Canada and many other lands. It is really fun.

I do not know why Jessica is staring at you. Maybe you should give her a biscuit and ask her.

Baxter said...

Kerri,

I do know Domenic very well. He is a good son. I hope that the children find this information very helpful.

I have some friends that help me be smart. It is pretty cool.

Baxter said...

Hello Rondo Family,

Hello Marshall, Shea and Jordan from Domenic. Hope all is well with you.

I am glad I am your favourite bear.

Hi Baxter, it's easy sending Email's to you, it would be very hard traverling to China, expiacaly if I had to find you.

Anonymous said...

Hello Baxter how are you going? Have you shaken hands with Grant Hhackett? Have you seen all of the Australian swimmers? Have you had Chinese prawn chips.

Anonymous said...

Baxter what are you doing? is it fun in China? do you like the Olmpics? is the chinese food good? do you like it in China?

Anonymous said...

Hi Baxter are you having a good time in China and Beijing. Did you like my letert that I rote you. I miss you Baxter. ooo

Baxter said...

Domenic

It would be a long trip to China...but once you got to Beijing and you asked a taxi driver to take you to the Water Cube....I sure you would find me.

Baxter said...

Cameron,

It is going well. Today I have a day off and it is raining cats and dogs. Good thing it is not raining bears :). I have not had a chance to shake hands with Grant Hackett. He was really wet when I saw him and so I didn't want to ruin my fur.

I am staying away from the prawm chips mate. I don't want a tummy ache since I can eat lots and lots of them and if I do I won't fit in the bag. I might also end up like Berwyn. :)

Baxter said...

Adam,

Today I am resting. I was supposed to go on some trips to see some places today but it is raining too much. Not sure how much I will get out and see. I love the Olympics. This has been really cool for me to be here and also to do this blog.

Chinese food is great. I like Rice and Kung Pao Chicken and duck. Have you ever eaten duck? It is really good. They serve it with a little plum sauce and you wrap it up in a little taco tortilla and put some veggies on it. Lots of veggies to keep me feeling good.

I like it in China...but I am homesick for Ms. B's class at PT Cook. So...I am glad to be coming home soon. Can't wait to see all of you guys in Ms. B's class.

Love Baxter.

Baxter said...

Lilli,

Thanks for writing. I did enjoy your letter. I miss you too Lilli, but in about 5 days I will be home again and you guys can squeeze me and hold me a lot. I am having a great time in China. I am a very lucky bear.

Dear Baxter,

Did you have a great time at the great wall of China. Your photos look good. Are you having fun in China. I like the first photo. Baxter are you having fun going to the Beijing Olympic games. I know the Olympic mascots. Do you? While you were in China I got a new puppy called Princess. She is lots of fun. Princess likes to run around and play with my Sister and I. Hope you have a good time in China.

Love from

Thanks for your note. The wall was great fun. I was glad to have some friends with me to help me out when I got tired. The wall was built years ago to keep people out of China. Now the wall brings people from every land together. It is really cool. I hope Ms. B can tell you more about the wall.

It is good to have mates that can take photos of me all over the place in China. I have really enjoyed China. I am glad you like the photo with the cube. I like it too.

I am having fun in China. The mascots are fun but a little scary for a little bear like me. I have forgotten their names so I am glad that you know them. I think maybe they are Dorothy, Captain Featherstone....opps...those are from the wiggles....you have to help me with their names. Can you do that Caitlain?

You got a new puppy. WOW. Does she bite? Should I be afraid of her? I hope not. If she is playing with you and your sister I am sure she will love a bear like me.

See you soon.

Love Baxter.

Anonymous said...

Dear Baxter,

The mascots are Jingjing,BeiBei,Nini, Yingying and Haunhaun.
There you go they are the mascots. Hope they arent too scary.

Our puppy is playful and she does bite a bit. But she is very little.

Have fun.

Hello Baxter!
You're famous, you were in the newsletter last week. WOW you got to go to the Water cube! I love watching swimming and my sister, Simran loves diving, she watches it all the time. What is your favourite sport to watch Baxter? What team are you supporting this year? I am supporting Asutralia but my sister is supporting Great Britan, they're currently third on the medals tally. China are way far ahead and AMerica have gotten way more than 100 medals, that's incredible. Have you met any famous athletes yet?

Baxter said...

Kiran,

Ms. B told me about the newsletter. That is cool. The Water Cube was really fun. I liked hanging out there. China and America did really well. I saw many famous athletes in the pool but I did not get to close to them since I didn't want to get wet.

Love Baxter

Baxter said...

Caitlyn,

Well done on the mascots. Do you know what colours each of them are? They were not scary at all.

Glad the puppy is playful.
